I guess we're only a couple weeks away from the book release of "Why Work Sucks". I have seen some different dates - May 29th or June 2nd.
Either way, once the book is released it should give us lots to talk about!

What does this have to do with ROWE?
We seem to be on two different wavelengths here. No, I would not be grateful for getting off early on a Friday. I would be grateful for an employer to say here's the work that needs to be done, and then they would leave the employee to do it as they wish. Time does not equal productivity. Plenty of people show up every day to work and do very little.
Mike or anyone else,
I am talking to support. Can you see the save/cancel buttons at the bottom of the photo uploader, or are they off the screen?
Also, what web browser are you using?
The fear-based style of management is just so ridiculous to me. Just because it can produce some results, managers/owners automatically think it must be right. They don't realize there are different ways to run a business - ways that will result in at least the same level of productivity or more likely higher, while also treating workers as adults and not children.
"making you stay in your office, which he is paying you to do" - to me, this would seem to be anti-ROWE.
I don't think of it as a privilege or a right, just an enlightened way to run a business versus an unenlightened way.
I think it would be very possible to have employees self-organize. With lower level positions, you might have some who would take it less seriously but it's possible.
I also think it's a great idea to have higher pay for "prime times". That makes perfect sense to me.
In general, I think if you pitch the big picture to employees (here's what we need to accomplish, here's the resources available, here's the timeline, etc.), that you will inevitably get better results than the typical command-and-control approach.
Hello,
One new member to the forum has been having trouble adding photos to the profile and posts. I am looking into this, but if anyone else is having this same prblem, let me know.
I think if I worked until 10 pm, I wouldn't even come in the next day. If the work is getting done, there's no sense in coming in - especially if you're burned out.
Hello and welcome to the ROWE forum! This is a place to discuss all things ROWE (Results-Only Work Environment). ROWE is described in the upcoming book, "Why Work Sucks and How to Fix It" (http://caliandjody.com/book/).
