Hi All!

I run a small business in the IT field, we do telecommuting, we have a kind of result-oriented approach (but not “only” yet) and as much as I read about ROWE, more I think that it can improve our company but we are using some Scrum techniques with success and at first it seems to conflict with ROWE.

With Scrum there are “mandatory” meetings, in the other hand those meetings are used to report results.

I was wondering if someone has thought about how to use ROWE and Scrum, or hear from someone in ROWE that had used Scrum… any comments, any insights are pretty welcome!

I ran Scrum development with all meetings optional.  The interesting thing is that when I first announced that all meetings were optional, the team almost revolted.  They didn't know what to say or think.  Our daily scrum meetings did have an element of status but we tried to focus more on what was holding development back.  Some days some developers didn't attend.  Some developers called in to the conference phone.  If a developer skipped the meeting, they nearly always communicated the necessary information to me using email.

Great to hear that the Scrum development process looks like it can survive "Every meeting is optional". People are still accountable for communicating and getting the work done. Good work!
